I build and fund companies, usually a few years before their market shows up. Since 2018 that has been [Fabrica](https://fabrica.land). Land still changes hands the way it did a century ago, on paper, through intermediaries, over weeks. We make a parcel something you can buy, sell or borrow against in minutes, online. The technology is the easy half. The rest is property law, jurisdiction by jurisdiction.

Long before any of that, back in the nineties, I was a teenager in Italy shipping software for the Commodore Amiga that sold on CD-ROM across Europe, and writing for the Amiga magazines on the side. Some of it is [still online](https://www.x-arc.com/), which is the best and the worst quality of the internet.

In 2000 I founded Milano Tonight, later *tonight.eu*, and ran it for about a decade without investors. It answered one question, what shall we do tonight, with reviews written by the people who actually went out. By 2005 la Repubblica, one of Italy's major newspapers, wrote that for many people it had become a sacred text for deciding the evening. It grew to sixteen cities across Europe, years before Yelp arrived in Italy; its venues showed up on Google Maps through a partnership with Google, and in 2009 on Samsung phones out of the box.

Then three years at Vodafone Italy, shipping new products for its customers and starting a programme that put Italian startups in front of Silicon Valley. Scouting for Vodafone Ventures brought me to California. I liked it here, left the corporate world, and went back to building companies. The first was phone.id, which let you sign in anywhere with just your phone number; it never found its market. The second is Fabrica.

I live in San Francisco with my family. Before kids there were small planes, motorbikes and scuba diving.
